House amendment would allow Rubio to revoke citizen passports in terror cases

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WLNE) — A new proposal could give Secretary of State Marco Rubio the power to revoke passports from US citizens.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee introduced the bi-partisan State Department Reauthorization bill last week.

If the amendment is passed, Rubio would be able to revoke passports if the department found evidence someone had abetted a foreign terrorist organization.

The same violations would bar anyone from receiving a new passport as well.

The passport amendment is a part of the larger bill, which has yet to be introduced to the larger house.
