FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School was placed into lockdown Wednesday morning due to reports of a threat, according to the Fall River Police Department.

The lockdown was precautionary, according to Fall River police, and their investigation concluded that there was no threat to Diman or the surrounding community.

The lockdown has since lifted and the campus is secure.

Police are also asking that parents who want to dismiss their children from the school be patient as the process is being done in “a systematic safe manner.”

Massachusetts State Police Troop D personnel also assisted in the investigation and utilized their Air Wing system.

According to Diman Superintendent-Director Brian Bentley, an individual placed a call to Fall River police claiming someone at the school had a gun or a bomb.

After police coordinated with Diman’s school resource officer, a message was sent out to parents and the lockdown was initiated.

Police conducted a full sweep of the school and gave the all clear, according to Bentley.

Bentley said that the incident might have been a case of swatting and that Diman is “good to go” with carrying out the rest of the school day.

Students will be released at their regular time and all events planned for Wednesday will be held as scheduled.
