West Nile Virus detected near park in New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The City of New Bedford said that mosquito samples collected in the Buttonwood Park and Business Park areas of the city were positive for West Nile Virus.
The city said that risk for West Nile in the area was moderate.
It also recommended residents take preventative measures including earing mosquito repellent between dusk and dawn, wearing long sleeves and long pants from dusk to dawn, using mosquito netting on baby carriages and playpens, and emptying standing water around homes twice weekly.
