Possible school shooting averted due to Sandy Hook Promise tipline
MENLO-ATHERTON, CA (WLNE) — Police in a northern California community say a possible school shooting was prevented because of a tip line created by Sandy Hook Promise.
According to officers, Menlo-Atherton police received a tip on September 10 that a former student had posted concerning content about the local high school.
They locked down the high school campus as well as a nearby middle school.
They were able to locate that student and recover weapons from his home.
Sandy Hook Promise is an organization that aims to fight gun violence in schools and was created by parents who lost their children in the Sandy Hook school shooting.
They say that this was the 19th credible school shooting stopped by the tip line since its inception.
