Former Freetown-Lakeville Middle School PTO treasurer charged with embezzlement, police say

LAKEVILLE, Mass. (WLNE) — The former treasurer of the Freetown-Lakeville Middle School Parent Teacher Organization was arrested for allegedly embezzling thousands of dollars over the summer, Lakeville police said.

Former PTO treasurer Zachary Granville-Wilmot, 43, of Assonet, was charged with two counts of forgery of a check, two counts of uttering a false check, embezzlement over $250 by an association member, and conspiracy.

According to police, the Freetown-Lakeville PTO discovered funds were missing and contacted police on Aug. 22.

During the investigation, police discovered over $15,000 in fraudulent transactions were allegedly made in May and June by Zachary Granville-Wilmot, police said.

Police added that 41-year-old James Granville-Wilmot, of Assonet, was charged with conspiracy in connection to the investigation.

Zachary and James Granville-Wilmot are scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 24.
