UPDATE: Victim in Smithfield rollover crash dies at the scene

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Smithfield police announced today that the victim of Tuesday’s single-car crash on Douglas Pike was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Dennis Hynes, 68, of Lincoln, RI was involved in a rollover crash at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Smithfield Police Department.

Smithfield police and fire personnel responded to the 388 Douglas Pike scene for a report of the crash involving a single vehicle, and Hynes was pronounced deceased by first responders.

The cause of this crash is still under investigation.
