RIDOH announces first probable human case of West Nile Virus for 2025

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A resident of Providence County has tested positive for West Nile Virus with confirmatory testing set to be conducted by the CDC.

This is the first probable human case of the virus in 2025, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH).

The person, who is in their 60s, first displayed symptoms of West Nile Virus in early September and they are currently hospitalized.
