Fall River to unveil designs for new planned sensory playground
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Fall River will discuss plans to open a new kind of playground inspired by a local parent and their ingenuity.
City officials will show designs for the new sensory playground that will be be built at Abbot Court Playground.
The city was inspired by parent Marcel Riley, who took the idea to Fall River officials, after building his daughter her own sensory playground in their backyard.
ABC6 spoke with Marcel in July, who said that it became unrealistic for his family to travel to sensory playgrounds in New Bedford.
He created a petition to build the sensory-friendly playground at Abbot Court, which gathered more than 1,000 signatures.
The unveiling of the park’s design will be Thursday, October 2 at 10 a.m.
