Still feeling like summer
We had a great start to the first weekend of Fall although clouds have been increasing and they’ll stay with us through the overnight as a weak system on the Mid-Atlantic coast sends some light showers up toward the southern New England. The greatest threat for any of these showers to make it to the ground will be in southernmost RI after 2-3AM as lows only drop to the lower 60s. Any showers that do make it here won’t last long and won’t produce much in the way of measurable rainfall, basically less than 0.05 inch.
Shortly after daybreak, any showers or sprinkles that happen to around will quickly be departing the region and the clouds will be clearing away to plenty of sunshine for midday and the afternoon. It’ll also be a bit on the muggy side with highs near 80°, so we continue to hold on to that summer feel.
Strong High pressure will be building down from Canada for the rest of the upcoming work week to bring plenty of sunshine and dry conditions. It’ll also bring down much cooler air (low 60s for highs) during the Wed.-Fri. time frame and then it looks to warm again into the next weekend. This strong High Pressure area is also important because it will prevent any tropical moisture from coming near us and essentially deflect Hurricane Humberto out to the East-Northeast into the North Atlantic and in addition it will prevent any rain from what will likely become Imelda from getting any further north than Virginia.
