Coventry Police say ‘no charges filed at this time’ against driver who crashed into Coventry daycare playground

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — The Coventry Police Department said no charges have been filed against the driver who crashed into the playground of a Coventry daycare on Sept. 29.

According to Central Coventry Fire District Chief Kevin Cady, five children were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a car crashed into the playground around 4:30 p.m.

According to police, the driver is cooperating with police and showed no signs of impairment after taking standardized field sobriety tests.

Police said there have been “no charges filed at the time” against the driver.

Police added that two juveniles were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash, and were not hurt.
