Providence Police investigating separate overnight stabbings
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said it was investigating two separate stabbing incidents that took place overnight.
Around 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 officers responded to the area of Hanover Street and Cranston Street for a report of a disturbance.
Police said they found a man on the ground with multiple stab wounds, as well as another male with a stab wound to his back.
Witnesses told police that they saw two men stabbing each other and a third male hit one of the others with a bottle.
The department said a suspect who matched the description of the man who attacked with the bottle was taken into custody.
The injuries the men suffered were non-life-threatening, and one man was taken to the hospital.
Around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday police responded to a gas station on Benefit Street to find a victim suffering from injuries to the abdomen and forearm.
Another victim was then found at Rhode Island Hospital suffering from lacerations to their arm.
The first victim was transported to the hospital.
The department said that the second victim had been at a bar earlier and had been removed on two occasions for “aggressive and disorderly behavior.”
