UPDATE: Motorcycle operator who fell from Providence overpass dies from injuries
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A 26-year-old man from Bridgewater, Mass. has died from his injuries after falling 60 feet from a Providence overpass after being ejected from his motorcycle in a Sunday crash.
According to Rhode Island State Police, Cedrix Teixeira was transported to Rhode Island Hospital after being found by arriving troopers and Providence Fire Department personnel at approximately 5:36 p.m.
Responding personnel arrived at the Route 6 West scene near the Route 10 South interchange and located a black Kawasaki motorcycle on its side in the first travel lane.
The preliminary investigation determined that Teixeira had attempted to negotiate a turn and struck a high-speed barrier.
The impact from the crash ejected him from the motorcycle, coming to rest on a nearby dirt embankment.
Teixeira was pronounced deceased after arriving at Rhode Island Hospital.
The incident remains under investigation by the Rhode Island State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Services Unit.
