Whitehouse, Senate Dems spar with Bondi over alleged DOJ weaponization
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is part of the Senate Judiciary Committee questioning Attorney General Pam Bondi Monday.
He asked Bondi about former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director, and current “border czar,” Tom Homan.
A case was closed against Homan last month after officials investigated claims he accepted a $50,000 cash payment in an undercover FBI investigation in 2024.
The cash exchange was allegedly caught on recording in connection to efforts to help the men involved obtain government contracts if Trump won the 2024 election.
The justice department said there was no credible evidence of any criminal wrongdoing in the case.
Bondi is facing criticism that she weaponized the justice department.
Bondi says she believes she is upholding her pledge to not do so.
Concerns arose last week from Democrats after the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey, who came to be at odds with President Trump during his first term in the White House.
