New Bedford Board of Elections releases preliminary election results

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The New Bedford Board of Election Commissioners has released the 2025 preliminary election results.

On Tuesday, voters chose from 12 at-large councilor candidates on the ballot.

The top ten candidates with the most votes will advance to November’s general election.

The following candidates will be on the November ballot:

  • Ian Abreu with 2,299 votes
  • Shane A. Burgo with 1,910 votes
  • Brian K. Gomes with 1,734 votes
  • Devin B. Byrnes with 1,644 votes
  • James Roy with 1,642 votes
  • Jennifer A. Arruda with 1,406 votes
  • Naomi Renee-Andrews Carney with 1,403 votes
  • Scott Lima with 1,241
  • Christopher Allen Cotter with 1,227 votes
  • Shaun P. Mulvey with 787 votes

The general election will be held on Nov. 4.
