Wareham man charged in connection with explosion at home

WAREHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said that a Wareham man was charged in connection with an explosion at his home on Oct. 3.

50-year-old Mark Halpin was charged with possession of explosives and secreting, throwing, launching, or placing explosives.

Police responded to his home to find him suffering from injuries including burns and cuts.

They also allegedly found calcium fluoride, compressed air tanks, ammonium nitrate, and chemical powders.

The home also suffered damage “consistent with an explosion.”

Halpin was ordered to wear a GPS monitor, remain in home confinement, and not posses any weapons or explosives.

His next hearing will occur on Nov. 3.
