Providence Place receiver files petition for Apple Cinemas to take over movie theater

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Place receiver W. Mark Russo said that he  filed a petition in Rhode Island Superior Court to allow Apple Cinemas to take over operation of the mall’s theater.

Russo said that if court approval was obtained the theater would be taken over on Nov. 1.

“This represents an important step forward for Providence Place and its future,” he said. “We’re pleased to have reached an agreement with Apple Cinemas – an experienced and growing regional operator and we’re confident this will bring new energy and an enhanced movie-going experience to the mall.”
