Sojourner House to hold 15th and final fundraiser Masquerade Ball November 21

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Sojourner House has held multiple October events to mark 2025’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

But they are saving the best for November 21 with their 15th and final fundraiser Masquerade Ball at the Graduate Providence.

The theme of this swan song event: “Venetian Twilight.”

And the goal: A figure to top last year’s total of $200,000.

The funds will go directly toward the Sojourner House mission of assisting victims of domestic violence.

“In a given year, we serve about 2,000 clients through our housing programs and other clinical services,” said Annie Jeong, Director of Development at Sojourner House.

“And in addition to those 2,000 clients, who receive much higher touch points with us, we serve approximately 26,000 Rhode Islanders through our other education and advocacy channels.”

One of those clients and survivors is Kristen Minksy, who is choreographing Venetian Twilight.

“Shortly after my assault, my personal incident, I found it really challenging to be in public spaces,” said Kristen.

“It kind of gave me a little bit of a safety net when I felt unsafe or uncomfortable, beyond that the dancing has always brought me a lot of joy.”

The Sojourner House Masquerade Ball begins at 7 p.m. on November 21.
