PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Police Department said a student is set to face charges after a fight at Roger Williams Middle School Tuesday.

Police responded to the school after receiving reports of a fight involving two female students.

According to police, the male student was hit when he had attempted to break up the fight.

A teacher was also struck when attempting to intervene.

The male student then allegedly “caused damage inside the classroom” and was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital to be evaluated, police said.

Police said the student will be charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, and malicious mischief after he is released from the hospital.
