North Kingstown to dedicate tree and bench to resident struck and killed by drunk driver

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The North Kingstown community will dedicate a tree and a bench to a town resident who was killed in 2024 after being struck by a drunk driver while riding her bicycle.

Linda Sherman, 53, was struck while traveling on Boston Neck Road in the town on June 20, 2024.

Sherman was rushed to an area hospital where she passed away from her injuries.

She is remembered as a mother, wife and dedicated member of the basketball community of North Kingstown.

The dedication ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Town Beach.

60-year-old Daniel Famiglietti was sentenced October 15 in the incident.

The former Providence police officer will serve seven years in prison.
