2 arrested after disturbance at West Bridgewater supermarket

WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WLNE) — The West Bridgewater Police Department said two women were arrested after a disturbance at a supermarket on Oct. 26.
37-year-old Olivia Byrd, of Quincy, and 28-year-old Rahjane Byrd, of Hyde Park, were charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, shoplifting by asportation, and disorderly conduct.
Police responded to the Market Basket on West Center Street after receiving reports of two customers fighting with store employees.
According to West Bridgewater police, an employee allegedly saw Olivia Byrd and Rahjane Byrd “concealing high-priced items” inside a bag, which were not paid for at the checkout.
Police said the items consisted of lobster meat, prime ribeye steaks, and truffle butter.
When confronted by an employee, police said the defendants were allegedly “argumentative, screamed obscenities, and assaulted two store employees.”
Both women were arrested without further incident.
