Probation violation sends convicted sex offender back to Mass. state prison
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A convicted sex offender will return to state prison due to multiple violations of his probation, according to the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn, III.
Richard Brown, 46, of Fall River, has been sentenced to two to three years in state prison, followed by five years of probation.
According to Quinn’s office, Brown was convicted in 2016 of two counts of statutory rape of a child and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
He was later sentenced to five to six years in state prison and 10 years of supervised probation.
Brown had admitted to sexually assaulting his stepdaughter who was between six and eight years old.
He began his probationary period on August 13, 2021, and among the conditions of his release were a GPS bracelet, sex offender counseling and an order that he have no unsupervised contact minors.
Brown was required to receive prior approval from the court to have contact with children and to date anyone with minor children.
He was found to be in contact with minors via social media posts and reviews of his GPS data points after he entered a relationship with a woman with two minor children.
He was also found to have spent several nights at her home where the children also lived.
