RIDOT to close part of I-95 in Providence for bridge repair
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department Transportation said that it will close two lanes in both directions of Interstate 95 for the decommissioning of a bridge in Providence.
The closures will take place on the weekends of Nov. 7 and Nov. 14 at the bridge over inactive rail line between Cadillac Drive and the Roger Williams Park Zoo property.
Work will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday and will be completed by 5 a.m. the following Monday.
The schedule for this work and traffic impacts is as follows:
- Nov. to Nov. 10: Starting at 8 p.m., RIDOT will close the two right lanes in each direction of I-95. The lanes will remain closed through the weekend, reopening by 5 a.m. on Monday, prior to the morning rush hour.
- Nov. 10 to Nov. 14: There will be a lane split on I-95 South at this location with two lanes on either side of the split. All lanes go through.
- Nov. 14 to Nov. 17: Starting at 8 p.m., RIDOT will close the two left lanes in each direction of I-95. The lanes will remain closed through the weekend, reopening by 5 a.m. on Monday, prior to the morning rush hour.
