Special education lawsuit against PPSD closed as district affirmed to be in compliance
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Public School District and several organizations have closed a class-action lawsuit filed in 2023 accusing the former of inadequate services to some students.
The PPSD was alleged to have failed in providing evaluations, special education and other services to preschool students.
The case was settled a few months after it was filed, and the PPSD agreed to inform families of any available services and to make improvements to its evaluation process.
An independent monitor verified that the schools were in compliance with the agreement, thus closing the suit.
