FOXBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — Crews at Gillette Stadium found the wheelchair of a Rhode Island woman who thought it was stolen during Saturday’s game.
According to a post shared by the police department on Facebook, Cindy Morais left her wheelchair under the stairs of section 304. However, when the game finished, Morais discovered that her wheelchair had been stolen.
“Honestly, at first, we couldn’t wrap our heads around that,” said Morais’ friend, Samantha Medeiros, in a Facebook post.
Morais has been a season ticket holder for the past six years and Medeiros says they followed Morais’ “6-year routine and left her wheelchair under the stairs before heading up.”
With plans on attending the AFC championships, Morais’ brother purchased a new wheelchair in order for her to attend the championship game.
However, Medeiros posted on Facebook Monday evening that a Gillette Stadium worker found Morais’ wheelchair at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday.
“Wayne mentioned to me that on Saturday he put a wheelchair, that he found near section 335 (the complete opposite side of the stadium) inside of the first aid room,” said Medeiros. “He mentioned that a food service worker approached him because a wheelchair was blocking their front door.”
Nonetheless, Morais’ story caught the attention of many including Bob Kraft who is not only replacing her chair, but is also giving her the opportunity to be on the field before Sunday’s AFC Championship game.
