Parades and honorary events to mark Veterans Day throughout RI and Mass.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — There will be Veterans Day celebrations throughout the southern New England region Tuesday, honoring the men and women who have served the country in the armed forces.

Rhode Island Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse will be on hand at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol Tuesday at 2 p.m.

Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo will also be at the event.

Governor Dan McKee will join East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva in the city for a ceremony to honor late World War II veteran Corporal Avelino “Chappy” Rose.

The East Providence native passed away in September at the age of 101

That ceremony will take place at the Garden of Flags Memorial at Veterans Memorial Park in front of Squantum Woods.

Parades will also kick off around the region to mark the holiday, including North Kingstown, South Kingstown, New Bedford and Fall River.
