Pizza shop manager accused of filming employees in bathroom arraigned

NEWPORT, R.I. (WLNE) — A Portsmouth pizza restaurant manager was arrested Tuesday, accused of secretly video recording employees in the shop’s bathroom.

The suspect was in Newport County District Court Thursday morning, charged with video voyeurism.

Michael Boone was arraigned on the charge after police say an employee discovered a cell phone in the bathroom of North End Pizzeria.

Portsmouth police arrested Boone after he was allegedly seen entering the bathroom just before and after the complaining employee had used the facilities.

He was arrested at his home after police arrived with a search warrant for the phone, which they say was found in his possession.

Evidence verifying the employee complaint was allegedly found on the phone, along with media allegedly proving Boone had recorded a second employee.

Police said that Boone admitted to posting some of these recordings to social media.

The alleged victim who reported the phone to police is asking for a no contact order.

Boone did not enter a plea Thursday, and he was released on $1,000 surety bail.

He will make his next court appearance on January 22, 2026.

North End Pizzeria told ABC6 that Boone has been fired from his position, and the business issued the following statement:

We are cooperating in every way possible with Portsmouth police regarding an incident involving one of the employees who violated the privacy of other employees in a nonpublic area of our business. It does not involve our customers.

As a family-run business, we find the incident deeply disturbing as providing a safe environment for all employees is of the utmost importance. We are taking swift action on this matter to assist with law enforcement to prosecute this person to the fullest extent of the law and he has been terminated.
