Photos: Seagull shatters Wareham windshield with errant quahog drop
WAREHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Shellfish is a staple New England dish, but some diners don’t have the utensils or even the digits to pry them open.
Seagulls compensate for the lack of cutlery by scooping up a quahog or scallop, gaining some altitude, and dropping the catch onto a hard surface, sometimes referred to as aerial shell-dropping.
One hungry gull in Wareham missed its target Monday night.
According to a social media post from the Wareham Department of Natural Resources, an officer arrived home to find his car with a shattered rear windshield and a telltale quahog impaling the glass.
The post said in part:
An investigation was conducted and it has been determined to be a targeted incident because of the nature of his job. The suspect has been identified but is still at large. Steven Seagul is approximately 16” tall, with a 40” wingspan. Last seen wearing white and gray feathers with matching yellow beak and feet.
