NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — An eight-year-old boy received a special award by New Bedford Emergency Medical Services on Nov. 18 for his “quick actions” earlier in the week.

8-year-old Owen Antil was awarded the NBEMS Challenge Coin.

On Nov. 15th, Owen was at a Subway restaurant with his family when he saw a woman on the ground.

New Bedford EMS said Owen quickly ran to the fire station and told first responders a woman needed help.

Thanks to Owen’s quick thinking, an ambulance was sent out to help the woman.

“I am proud that such a young member of our community acted so quickly for a complete stranger” NBEMS Director Thomas said.
