Fatal crash closes road in Freetown

FREETOWN, Mass. (WLNE) — The Freetown Police Department said that a fatal crash closed part of Washburn Street Friday evening.

The department said the crash was near the Route 140 overpass.

Police said that a tow truck in the left travel lane was struck by a vehicle traveling in the right travel lane.

The truck then fell from the overpass onto the road below, which caused the tow truck driver to suffer fatal injuries.

Drivers were advised to detour onto County Road, Chace Road, and Gurney Road.
