Garden City Newport Creamery location to close before year’s end

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A 60-plus year Cranston staple business will close before the end of the year.

The Newport Creamery location at Garden City will close on December 28 due to nonrenewal of the store’s lease.

“We are deeply saddened to leave Garden City after six decades of memories, celebrations, and connections with generations of Rhode Islanders,” said a statement from the Jan Companies, owners of Newport Creamery.

“This location has meant so much to our customers and our team, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has visited us over the years.”

All Garden City Newport Creamery employees will be offered jobs at other company locations.
