MSPCA-Angell to hold ‘Giving Back Tuesday’ pet food drive distribution

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The MSPCA-Angell will be holding a food pantry to distribute approximately 100,000 pet meals in one day next week.

The pantry, dubbed Giving Back Tuesday, has been assembled to help residents affected by the government shutdown and its pause on SNAP benefits.

“So far this month, we’ve held 25 pop-ups, in addition to delivering pet food to 31 human food pantries,” said Director of the MSPCA-Angell’s Community Outreach program, Alyssa Krieger.

“We’ve already distributed more than 200,000 pet meals in November, which is truly incredible.”

Giving Back Tuesday will be set up at Franklin Park Playstead on Pierpont Road in Boston on December 1 from 2-6 p.m.

The pantry is near the Franklin Park Zoo’s Giraffe entrance.

If you’d like to donate to support the effort, visit the MSPCA website.

You can also drop off pet food at the MSPCA-Angell’s Boston Adoption Center at 350 South Huntington Ave in Boston.

If you can’t make it in person, you can send food through the organization’s online wishlist.
