Monteiro murder suspect Groom pleads not guilty, held without bail

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — Murder suspect Gregory Groom has been ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty to the murder of 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro.

Groom, 22, appeared in Fall River Superior Court Tuesday for arraignment on charges of murder and witness intimidation.

Prosecutors said that Monteiro was murdered on August 7.

Rehoboth police said that Groom confessed to killing his ex-girlfriend and burying her body on his 107 Country Street property in the town.

Monteiro’s body was found during a subsequent search of the area, according to police.

There is a pretrial conference slated for December 18.
