Rhode Island State Police BAT Mobile to deploy ahead of Thanksgiving

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island State Police said that BAT Mobile will be deployed in Cranston for DUI enforcement ahead of Thanksgiving.

The BAT Mobile will be located on New London Avenue from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

State Police also said that the Cranston, Warwick, and West Warwick Police Departments would be assisting with DUI enforcement.

Police said that the first offense for driving under the influence of liquor or drugs carries several penalties:

  • Possible jail sentence of up to one year at the ACI.
  • Mandatory license suspension from three to eighteen months.
  • Mandatory community service from 10 to 60 hours.
  • Fines of not less than $100, nor more than $500
  • Fees can easily reach a few thousand dollars.
