Amtrak cars catch fire in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Providence Special Signal Fire Association said it was on scene for a fire on on several Amtrak passenger cars Sunday.

The fires occurred near Harris Avenue.

A spokesperson for the city said that the three cars were unoccupied and there were no injuries.

Amtrak said that the cause of the fire was likely “mechanical in nature” and was not suspicious.
