CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police said a Central Falls man was charged with driving under the influence after he allegedly struck a cruiser on Nov. 29.

19-year-old Daniel Cante, of Central Falls, was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs – B.A.C. unknown, refusal to submit to a chemical test, reckless driving, and resisting arrest.

According to RISP, a cruiser was traveling eastbound on Fales Street around 11:45 p.m. when it was hit by a car traveling in the opposite direction at a “high rate of speed.”

Police said the cruiser was struck in the driver’s side.

The car then struck a parked car, creating an impact on a second parked vehicle, according to police.

RISP said the driver, later identified as Cante, and the passenger, 20-year-old Jose Ramos-Ardon, allegedly ran from the scene.

The two were arrested a short time later and taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks.

Ramos-Ardon was charged with obstruction of a police officer in execution of duty.
