RIDOC says white substance found in mail ‘poses no danger’

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Corrections said a white powdery substance that was found in a piece of correspondence at the Maximum Security facility posed no danger on Friday.

RIDOC said that the correctional officer who handled the substance was also medically evaluated.

The substance was sent to the State Health Laboratories for further analysis.
