70-year-old dies after pedestrian crash in Hopkinton

HOPKINTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Hopkinton Police Department said that a 70-year-old man died after a pedestrian crash on Spring Street Saturday morning.

41-year-old Shannon Godbout was charged with driving to endanger resulting in death and possession of Schedule I/II narcotics with intent to distribute.

Police responded to the area around 7:15 a.m. for reports of a one-vehicle crash.

A preliminary investigation alleged that Godbout had left her lane and struck several objects, including two telephone poles, before hitting Roderick Macleod, who was walking his dog.

Macleod was transported to the hospital where he was declared dead.

A search of Godbout allegedly found narcotics and packaging materials consistent with drug distribution, and she was placed under arrest.
