Rotary Club to distribute wildflower seeds in effort to conserve butterfly, bumblebee population

SEEKONK, Mass. (WLNE)- The East Providence-Seekonk Rotary Club plans to give out free wildflower seeds in effort to save bumblebees and butterflies this spring.
The species are currently on the decline due to new construction destroying their habitats.
“If it weren’t for pollinators to be pollinating plants, we would be losing about 30 percent of the kinds of foods you see in the supermarket,” club President Betty Galligan told ABC6.
The Rotary Club is giving away free wildflower seeds at BayCoast Bank on Taunton Avenue in Seekonk, starting May 1.
