Middletown man dies after rollover crash

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (WLNE)- A Middletown man died Monday after a crash on Valley Road.

Middletown police said the crash happened just after 8 a.m.

Officers were called to Valley Road where they found a Jeep Cherokee upside down. One man was outside of the car and the driver was trapped inside.

Middletown Fire crews removed the driver from the car. He was rushed to Newport Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police identified the driver as Peter Connerton, 34, of Middletown.

The passenger, a 34-year-old Newport man, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.

The accident is under investigation.
