Winter weather ahead this week!

We’re starting the week off with sunshine and a chill! Temperatures will only be in the low 30s today, and with gusty winds out of the northwest, it’ll feel like the 20s throughout the afternoon. Bundle up! Overnight, temperatures fall back into the mid 20s.

Tomorrow, the storm we’ve been anticipating finally arrives in Southern New England… but will it be robust enough to give us a white Christmas? The answer: eh, it’s gonna be tough.

Snow showers begin mid-morning and continue on-and-off through the early evening for inland cities. Along the coast, any snow very quickly changes to a wintry mix and just plain rain for most of the day. Highest accumulations will be in northern Providence County, where we could see 1-3″ of snow.

Those are also the areas that have the highest chance of a white Christmas (which is, technically, 1.0″ of snow on the ground at 7am on Christmas morning). However, even there, the chance is slim because temperatures on Wednesday will be above freezing (mid/upper 30s), and clouds will part for sun on Wednesday afternoon as well.

Christmas Day looks decent, with temperatures in the mid 20s in the morning, and low 40s by the afternoon. Clouds will increase throughout the day.
