Providence FD rescue man who fell through mill floor and was trapped overnight
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence Fire Department personnel rescued a man Thursday morning who went through a vacant mill building floor and fell 12 feet, trapping him overnight.
The incident occurred Wednesday night at the 118 Manton Avenue site of Atlantic Mills when the man suffered the fall, sustaining serious injuries.
He was extricated after a passerby heard him screaming for help and called it in, according to the Providence Fire Department.
The man was then transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
The building will now be investigated by the Department of Inspections and Standards.
