McKee, RI congressional members to rally against Trump pause of Revolution Wind

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee will meet with most of the state’s congressional delegation and union leaders Friday in support of offshore wind projects paused by the Trump administration.

McKee will be joined by Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed, along with Congressman Gabe Amo at the CIC Providence building on Dyer Street at 11 a.m.

A rally will follow 30 minutes later at 195 District Park.

Revolution Wind, situated off the Rhode Island coast, is 95 percent complete according to state officials.

The leaders plan to push back on the administration’s pause of the project, citing thousands of jobs they say are now being jeopardized.

The Department of the Interior announced it was pausing the construction of Revolution Wind on December 22 due to “national security” concerns.

This came two weeks after a federal judge scrapped Trump’s executive order that blocked wind farms.
