DUI charge dismissed against former Cranston mayoral candidate

EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — Maria Bucci’s DUI charge has been dismissed, according to court records.

On Dec. 18, East Greenwich police pulled over former Cranston mayoral candidate Maria Bucci after officers observed her vehicle swerving on Division Street, according to police.

She was arrested and charged with DUI and refusal to submit a chemical test, as well as issued numerous citations.

According to court records, the prosecution dismissed Bucci’s DUI charge on Jan. 6.

Court records also show Bucci pled guilty to refusal to submit a chemical test.

For refusal to submit a chemical test, she was sentenced to 20 hours of community service and given a 30-day license suspension, as well as required to complete an alcohol education program, and install an ignition interlock system in her vehicle.
