BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE)- The Rhode Island Veterans Home announced Monday it accepted a new, fully-accessible transportation van donated by Operation Support Our Troops.

The van is equipped with bus entry doors and a 1,000-pound capacity wheelchair lift.

Operation Support Our Troops is led by Rhode Islander Mary Kay Salomone.

“My husband, grandfather, uncles, brothers, nephews, and my two sons have all served proudly in the military.  Our Veterans make us proud, they show us true patriotism, and for this I thank them,” said Salomone. “I want the residents of the Rhode Island Veterans Home to enjoy the van and know that they, and all our military, have a special place in my heart.”

The van was donated through OSOT’s “Wheels for Warriors” initiative, which so far has donated 44 vans for wounded service members throughout the country.
