WARREN, R.I (WLNE) – Over twenty patients at Crestwood Nursing Home were displaced by a fire early Tuesday morning.

Residents were alerted when the building’s fire alarm went off just after 1:30 a.m.

According to the State Fire Marshal, Tim McLaughlin, the fire is deemed electrical in nature that started in and was contained to a storage closet.

McLaughlin said the whole building is run with electric heat and it appears that a wire was pinched, arched up the wall and just barely crossed into the ceiling.

No injuries have been reported in the fire but many residents had to be moved to other rooms or even other nearby facilities because of smoke.

A neighbor of the facility said those residents are not particularly happy because they are so used to their rooms and routines.

“The warren fire department did a great job knocking it down, and the facility did a great job of having shelter in place when they had to move patients, it wasn’t chaotic. Everything worked according to plan”, said McLaughlin.
