WRENTHAM, Mass. (WLNE) — Several high school athletes in Massachusetts were suspended for using racial slurs.

The incident took place at King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, Massachusetts.

Officials said that more than a dozen football players have been disciplined for a hate crime.

In a letter sent home to parents, Superintendent Elizabeth Zielinski said the students used racial slurs toward a fellow team member.

The letter also states that the teammates used the mother’s phone number and called her repeatedly to make inappropriate sexual comments.

Wrentham police are looking into whether the student athletes will face criminal charges.
