COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) – A man was stabbed during an altercation at Twisted Pizza on Friday evening, Coventry police confirm.

One man was transported to the hospital with multiple stab wounds, which police said are not life threatening.

Police said two male patrons at the restaurant engaged in a physical confrontation, and one man stabbed the other. A third person was injured when they attempted to intervene. Police have not said anything about their condition.

Twisted Pizza owner, Steve Filippou tells ABC6 that the two men were neighbors and had an ongoing feud before Friday’s altercation.

One of the men was already in the restaurant when the other arrived and started yelling at him.

Filippou says that the two ended up outside after things boiled over. The restaurant called the police right away.

““We aren’t used to this at Twisted Pizza. This is the first time that anything like this has happened in any of our establishments over the 45 years we’ve been operating. We try and operate restaurants with a family friendly environment and also make a positive impact within the communities of our locations. We truly feel bad for our staff having to deal with the effects of the situation,” said Filippou

The incident is currently under investigation.

This is a developing story and details will be added as they become available.
