PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza and officials from Spin held a kickoff event for the bike rental service on Monday at Roger Williams Park.

The service is starting with 50 bikes, planning to add more bikes monthly until there are 400 total bikes throughout the city by September.

Spin already has 600 electric scooters for rent in Providence.

“The return of e-bikes to Providence gives our residents and visitors another safe and sustainable way to get around,” said Mayor Elorza

It will cost $1 to unlock the bikes from their station using the company’s app, and 29 cents per minute to ride.

There will be 40 hubs around the city where customers can park and rent their bikes.
