PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Governor Dan McKee announced Friday his choice for the next director of the Department of Revenue.

McKee has nominated Guillermo Tello, who would replace Jim Thorsen,  now the Director of the Department of Administration.

The Governor’s office says Tello comes from a position as Advisor for the U.S. Department of the Treasury in Jakarta, Indonesia. He previously served in the same role in the Dominican Republic.

“I am fortunate to be coming to Rhode Island at a time when the tide is turning. I am extremely upbeat about the course Rhode Island is on and the outlook for our economic/business climate, schools, and infrastructure as we emerge from the pandemic,” said Tello.

Tello will now go through the state Senate advice and consent process.
