PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Rep. Brandon C. Potter has been chosen to participate in a national Emerging Legislative Leaders program, the Rhode Island General Assembly announced Monday.

Up to 50 state legislators are chosen from around the country each year. Legislators are nominated and then chosen by a committee through the State Legislative Leaders Foundation.

Potter was nominated by House Speaker Joseph Shekarchi.

“I am honored and tremendously excited for this opportunity to grow as a leader and as an advocate for my constituents. I’m looking forward to gaining valuable perspective from other legislators across the political spectrum who have been elected at a time when there’s a great call for transformation in our country,” Potter said.

The program, which usually takes place at the University of Virgnia’s Darden School of Business, will be held virtually in July.
